About us

Empowering SMEs with Finance

Sandy Hunter, our owner, has been a finance director and chief financial officer for the last 20 years, in a combination of small, medium and large businesses. During that time, he's been involved in numerous finance-raising events for the companies he's worked in, acquisitions, business sales, turnaround situations, new systems implementations – just about everything you can imagine.

But his major passion is maximising a business's performance – mainly the strength of a business's profit & loss account and their cash position.

All businesses should have an ambition, an "endgame", in mind. Maybe it's to pass the business down to a family member; maybe it's to sell the company to someone else at a handsome profit. Whatever, when you get close to that stage, it's helpful if the business is generating a profit and generating cash. Depending on your exit type, the business might also need to possess certain characteristics to help the next owner along, or to maximise your sale value. Like a carefully imagined stock range, a diversified supplier or customer base, a "best in class" finance and ERP system, or a well managed creditor and debtor ledger etc. That's what we're passionate about helping you with. Whatever your size or ambition, we're happy to come and have a chat to see where you're trying to get to, and what it might cost.

The services that Sandy provides are called "fractional" services; he will not provide full-time services at a full-time cost. You may only need a few hours of support a month, you may need 9-10 days a month. Sandy and his team can work flexibly for you. We're not in the position any longer where we need to think about lining our own pockets - our hours are flexible, our rates are very affordable. Please get in touch to find out more.

Empowering SMEs with Finance

Our approach is fairly simple. We believe your business will perform best only if you have the right strategic and commercial foundations in place, the right systems to control those foundations and, in turn, the right level of insightful reporting to help you know when you've made good or bad decisions.

We can help you with all of these. We believe that only when you truly understand which products and services are making money for you can you really start to motor forward. We'll be aiming to work through what parts of your business are profitable, successful and cash generative; which parts make a loss or consume too much working capital (and maybe, therefore, need to be removed); and how we can really take advantage of every bit of spare capacity your business has – whether that's cash, warehouse space, vehicle space, your time, etc. And every time we hit a capacity issue, we'll find or buy more capacity!
